NEW TRACKING ADVENTURES AND BOOKING PROTOCOLS FROM THE UGANDA WILDLIFE AUTHORITY
The Uganda Wildlife Authority is pleased to announce its new operational changes to the wildlife experience, that is, the new tracking adventures and booking protocols.
To ensure your safari runs smoothly, here is a detailed look at the latest operational changes from the UWA.
New On-Site Cash Payment Systems at the Reservation Office
The Uganda Wildlife Authority has just simplified the payment of cash for all its services. An implant machine was introduced right at the reservations office in Kampala.
The facility is open for service from Monday to Friday (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM) and on Saturday (9:00 AM – 1:00 PM).
Payment is indeed done on-site, but remember to pay on time since it takes about 24 hours for funds to reflect in the bank system. Once the bank provides confirmation, the UWA staff will work on your permits and other paid-for services.
Two More Gorilla Groups Are Now in the Booking System

Two gorilla groups in Bwindi National Park, the Happy Group in the Buhoma Sector and the Nshanjare Group in the Rushaga Sector, have been officially added to the booking system.
Given the fact that the addition of these new groups provides additional slots, UWA has ceased issuing extra permits.
With the addition of these new gorilla groups in the tracking booking system, UWA has stopped issuing extra permits. You must keep monitoring for availability in real time.
It’s advisable that you watch the digital system for the availability of permits in real time. Once those daily permits have been bought, no more permits will be issued.
Tracking the Elusive African Golden Cat
Golden cat tracking, a new wildlife experience, is now available in the Kanyanchu region in Kibale National Park along the Ngongo Road.
This activity involves travelers trekking through the forest in search of the elusive golden cats, and it is normally done in 5 days.
This 5-day tracking expedition costs $350 USD per person, and booking is done on the ground since it is not yet in the system.
Booking for the golden cat trekking experience is done 24 to 48 hours before the actual trekking.
Travelers are required to come along with their own guides, but UWA will provide a ranger for support and safety within the park.
Plan your itinerary around the 24-hour payment clearing window to get the most out of these changes.
